Thought Bubble

This painting is about capturing the vulnerability of being alone with your thoughts. When thought and introspection collide, anxiety and aspiration can swirl together, bringing brilliant clarity or crippling anxiety. I have a place that I go to confront my deepest self, and I wanted to give this woman her own locus of solitude where she can be raw and unfiltered with herself.

She barely has her head above water. Physically and mentally, she is naked and exposed, deciding whether to embrace or abuse herself. The rubber duck floats free, a gentle nudge to embrace joy and find humor in the chaos. When life is most challenging, we can still approach it with a playful spirit.

As my first painting of 2025, it was emblematic of my desire to approach the year with intentionality, combining the seriousness of my craft with a creativity that fuels a childlike wonder at the world around us.
